A diverse hiking paradise full of scenic and cultural-historical highlights – that's what the Via Surprise in the Solothurn Jura promises. True to its name, the six-day circular hike is full of surprises.
On the "Monastery Tour," you will make a pilgrimage along a side branch of the legendary Way of St. James, visit churches and pilgrimage sites, and spend the night in historic locations. For example, at Dornach Monastery, the former seat of the Capuchins, or at Beinwil Monastery, an almost magical place of tranquility and encounter. Along the way, you will also discover Thal Nature Park, the Weissenstein with its breathtaking views of the Alps, and the mystical Verena Gorge. Then you will be welcomed by the most beautiful baroque city in the country: Solothurn.
No less appealing is the "Power Places Tour" from Olten to Mariastein, with magnificent panoramas and encounters with mysterious, religious power places. Here is the Celtic measuring point at the summit of Belchen, there is the pilgrimage site of Mariastein, where people from all over the world find peace and security.

Six daily stages
The ViaSurprise is a circular hiking trail in the Solothurn and Basel-Landschaft Jura. The multi-day hike is marked as SwitzerlandMobility Route No. 32 and divided into six daily stages. Feeder routes lead to the main route from the surrounding centers of Basel, Liestal, Olten, Egerkingen, Balsthal, and Solothurn. Along the way, there is a huge range of sights, unique accommodation, and regional delicacies to enjoy.
