A Day Trip to Explore Culture and Nature in the Solothurn Jura
To introduce the three attractive castles in the Thal valley—Alt-Falkenstein, Alt-Bechburg, and Neu-Falkenstein—to hiking enthusiasts, the Falkenstein Castle Association has put together a hiking route that connects the three historic sites on a day-long tour.
The trail starts in Alt-Falkenstein and follows the Roggen mountain range at a moderate elevation to Tiefmatt above Oberbuchsiten, then continues via the Schlosshöchi to Alt-Bechburg, through Holderbank to the Römerstrasse, and along a section of the Holzweg to the ruins of Neu-Falkenstein. It mostly follows existing hiking trails. The route can also be hiked in the opposite direction.
