Hike through the Tüfelsschlucht gorge in Hägendorf
The rugged Kettenjura mountain range, which comprises several successive mountain ranges subdivided by faults, thrust faults, and erosion, is drained by the Cholersbach, which carries its waters down into the village over waterfalls and smooth, polished rock slabs and, in its lower reaches, has carved out the imposing Teufelsschlucht (Devil’s Gorge) over millions of years before flowing into the Dünnern at the village border with Kappel. The entrance to the Teufelsschlucht is located in the center of the village. A winding footpath leads over bridges and footbridges, past caves and crevices, all the way up to the Allerheiligenberg.
