Kneipp facility at Rauberplatz, Egerkingen
Refreshing for body and mind: the Kneipp facility on Rauber-Platz, located between the Sternen restaurant and the Catholic church in Egerkingen.
Kneipp therapy is a natural healing method named after the German Sebastian Kneipp (1821–1897) that addresses the body, mind, and spirit.
Anyone unfamiliar with the Kneipp method who walks past Rauber-Platz might cast a puzzled glance at the people with their pants rolled up, wading through the water with a stork-like gait. However, a glance at the information boards on site quickly explains what the facility is all about and its medical background. Treading water is said to stimulate circulation, blood flow, and metabolism, as well as to strengthen the body’s resistance and improve venous health. The barefoot path, where you walk over various natural surfaces such as grass, stones, sand, and wood, serves, among other things, to strengthen the foot muscles and ligaments, relax the shoulder area, reduce stress, and can alleviate headaches. And last but not least, the arm bath refreshes both body and mind and calms the heart.
The Kneipp facility is a recreational area. Children may use the facility only under the supervision and responsibility of their parents.
The facility, which is open to the public and free to use, is open from April through October, as long as weather conditions permit.
